Both Massimo and Daniela, proprietors of The Due Spade in Bardi come from catering backgrounds, Massimo's family were in New York and Daniela's in Wales. Before opening inBardi they had moved back to South Wales where they owned and ran a very popolar Italian restaurant outside Cardiff and where they gained eccellente reports both in the newspapers and In the local good food giudes. After ten years experience abroad the couple decided to move back to their home town of Bardi. Il ristorante Le Due Spade is located at the foot of Bardi's famouse Castle. The premises are as attractive as the food is distinctive. Young at heart, flexible in response and totally unpretentious , the emphasis at The Due Spade is on an informal, friendly service designed to make customers feel at ease. The whole retaurant exudes a homely atmosphere but, for all its laid- back feel, the standards are high and its menù sophistacated.Everything is home made, from fresh pasta to the puddings - even the ice cream is made on the premesis. Massimo tries to use as much local produce as possible such as mushrooms, truffles, Parmesan cheese and local cured meats.The Wine cellar is well stocked with over 100 labels. There is everything from good Tuscans to great local wines, including a couple of biological Cabernets and Barberas.Apart from the variety of local dishes on the a la carte menù, Massimo has a delivery of fresh fish on a Friday morning. Fish dishes have always been part of Massimo's repetoire and in order to give his customers something different there is also a fish menù on Friday evening. The plates include spaghetti with shellfish, linguine with lobster, paella, over baked sea bass and lots more.The A la Carte menù is always available. On Friday evenings (from May to October) there is also a fresh fish menu and at lunch time (from Monday to Friday) for visitors to Bardi who are looking for a quick meal there is also a set menù with a very reasonable price.Closed on Tuesday and Sunday eveningsOpen seven days a week in August
